16th International Exhibition of Food & Beverage Processing and Packaging Technologies was held on 27th, 28th and 29th of August 2019 at Expo Centre Karachi. 16th IFTECH is the first and foremost B2B exhibition of food processing and packaging in Pakistan which portrays the solid growth and unprecedented performance of country’s food and beverage sectors.

It is also engaged in various skill development programs offered by TEVTA, STEVTA, US Aid, Aurat Foundation and Prime Minister Skill Development program (NAVTTC).
College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM) Karachi Campus participated in the 16th IFTECH 2019 exhibition and glorified the event by organizing an exciting competition titled as “Rising Chefs 2019”. A three-day exciting cooking competition was hosted by COTHM Karachi to uplift the confidence of the students. The aim of the competition was to provide a platform to the students where they could showcase their skills and creativity. The competition was categorized in five classes: Drinks & Smoothies, Modern Pakistani Cuisine, Chicken Innovation, Cake Decoration & Fondant Arts and Sea food. More than 150 students of COTHM Karachi participated in the competition and showcased their creativity by creating innovative and delicious dishes meeting the standards of the competition.
Rising chefs 2019 competition was graced and appreciated by different officials from the corporate sector and industrial chefs from the renowned hotels of Karachi like Executive Chef & Sous Chef of Beech Luxury Hotel were there to motivate the students and judge the competition, Celebrity Chefs like Chef Farzana and Chef Farah were the judges of the competitions. It was a grand kiosk of three-day competition that was judged by the professional and industrial chefs to acknowledge the efforts of the participants and students. Different government officials like Honorable Counsel General of Malaysia and Thailand also visited the competition arena to encourage the participants and acknowledged the hard work of the students.
The grand competition of “Rising Chefs 2019” was concluded on the third day of event where Chef Farah awarded the gold, silver and bronze medals to the students for their outstanding performance. 11 Gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze medals were awarded to the students for their exemplary efforts and outstanding performance. A certificate of participation was awarded to all the participants for the encouragement and acknowledgment of their efforts.
