CAP organizes PICC, thousands of chefs join

Chefs Association of Pakistan (CAP) in collaboration with College of Tourism and Hotel Management (COTHM) organized a three day culinary battle named Pakistan International Culinary Championship (PICC) from March 14, 15, 16 at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club in Lahore. Chefs from almost all major cities, hotels, restaurants, cafes and resorts of Pakistan as well as chefs from different countries around the world participated in this Culinary Championship.

Apart from the chefs, a large number of journalists, government officials, and politicians also visited and shared their views. On the first day of the three-day championship, Punjab Minister for Industries SM Tanveer inaugurated this culinary championship. Talking to the media representatives, he said that this international culinary championship, the only one of its kind in Pakistan, is not only bringing out the talent of our young students and chefs, but at the same time, this championship is promoting Pakistani cuisine. Tourism is the guarantee of economic development in any country and undoubtedly this championship will lead to the promotion of tourism in the country. He also appreciated all the chefs who participated in this championship.

Punjab former Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar also visited the Pakistan International Culinary Championship. He said that I appreciate the efforts of the Secretary General of the Chefs Association of Pakistan and the CEO of COTHM and his team for bringing the positive face of Pakistan to the world by organizing such events. He said that chefs from all over the country have gathered here. Thus, this event is promoting provincial harmony. It will also help promote Lahore as the food capital of Pakistan.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Aftab ur Rahman Rana, Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) also visited. He said that the chefs who have come here from all over the world will have a positive and friendly image of Pakistan in their minds when they return to their countries. Thus, these chefs will be brand ambassadors of Pakistan for tourism. He further said that he will not only promote tourism in Pakistan but also promote Pakistani food and taste in the whole world. Such events should be organized as they promote tourism in the country.

Renowned classical singer Adeel Barki also visited and entertained the audience with his singing. Renowned columnist and analyst Sohail Waraich visited the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club on the third day of the event and appreciated Pakistani talent and cuisine. On this occasion, he said that this international culinary championship, the only one of its kind in Pakistan will not only highlight the talent of our young students and chefs, but also bring Pakistani cuisine to the world. He further said that tourism is the guarantee of economic development of any country and undoubtedly this championship will lead to the promotion of tourism not only in Lahore but also in the country.
