Pakistan is honored to host the 4th D-8 Senior Officials Meeting and 3rd D-8 Ministerial Meeting on Tourism Cooperation, which will be held on August 4-5, 2023 in Bhurbhan, Murree. The meetings will bring together tourism ministers and senior officials from the D8 member states – Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkiye – to discuss ways to boost tourism cooperation and promote the region as a premier tourist destination.
“We are delighted to host these important meetings in Pakistan,” said Awn Chaudhry, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Tourism & Sports and Chairman of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). “Pakistan has a rich and diverse tourism offer, and we believe that these meetings will help to raise awareness of our country’s potential as a tourist destination.”
The D8 Tourism Cooperation Meetings will focus on a number of key areas, including:
- Promoting tourism within the D8 region
- Developing joint tourism products and packages
- Facilitating visa and travel arrangements
- Sharing best practices in tourism development
The meetings are expected to result in a number of concrete initiatives to boost tourism cooperation between the D8 member states.
“We are confident that these meetings will be a great success,” said Chaudhry. “They will provide a valuable opportunity for the D8 member states to work together to promote tourism and create new opportunities for economic growth.”
About the D-8
The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation is an intergovernmental organization of eight developing countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkiye. The D-8 was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting economic cooperation and development among its member states.
