Aviation Minister Instructs Free Transportation of NDMA’s Flood Relief Items

Aviation minister, Khawaja Saad Rafique has asked Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to transport relief items from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) without any charges to people affected by the floods.

During a briefing of PIA leaders, the minister called on all national institutions and Aviation minister to unite for integrated aid and rehabilitation of flood victims.

During the briefing, PIA management also pledged to step up efforts to resume operations in the UK, Europe and the US. A team from PIA and the Air Department will travel to the United States in early September to discuss their aviation safety, security and operational issues.

Another team of Pakistani aviation officials are dispatched to Brussels to brief the European Aviation Agency on the steps to resume operations. The Minister was told that the PIA team would immediately travel to the UK to secure landing slots at London Heathrow Airport and return to the country once the task is complete.
