The Department of Travel, Tourism & Airline Management at COTHM College, an IATA Authorized Training Center, recently provided its students with an enriching learning experience through an exclusive visit to the SABRE Travel Network Office in Lahore.
Under the leadership of Mr. Kashif Zia, Senior Manager Training & Development at COTHM, the students participated in a specialized Global Distribution System (GDS) training workshop. This hands-on session offered valuable insights into the Passenger Name Record (PNR) system, deepening their understanding of GDS operations and their essential role in the modern travel industry.
During the workshop, students were introduced to the practical applications of GDS technology, equipping them with industry-relevant knowledge and preparing them to tackle real-world challenges in the aviation and travel sectors.
The success of the visit was made possible by the warm welcome and expert guidance provided by key personnel from the SABRE Travel Network Office: Mr. Muhammad Shiraz Shahid (Station Manager Lahore), Ms. Sadia Haseeb (Senior Executive CS & Training), and Mr. Mahmood Ahmed Qureshi (Business Executive Airlines & Training).
Expressing his views on the initiative, Mr. Kashif Zia highlighted the importance of such industry visits in enhancing the practical understanding of students. “This visit is a significant step in bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry exposure. Our goal is to ensure that COTHM students are not only knowledgeable but also equipped with the practical skills necessary to excel in the dynamic world of travel and aviation,” he remarked.
This visit marks another milestone in COTHM’s ongoing commitment to providing its students with real-world industry exposure, reinforcing its dedication to preparing future professionals for successful careers in the global travel and aviation sectors.
