LABARD’s students shine at PICC 2025 in ‘Senses in the Kitchen’ segment

A remarkable delegation from Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (LABARD) took part in the prestigious PICC 2025, a culinary event organized by the Chefs Association of Pakistan (CAP) and endorsed by Worldchefs. The event, held in a dynamic environment with 25 live kitchens, witnessed participation from over 5000 chefs, making it an extraordinary gathering for the culinary world.

LABARD’s delegation participated in the ‘Senses in the Kitchen’ segment, showcasing their exceptional skills and creativity in cooking. The participants, who are individuals with disabilities, demonstrated remarkable culinary talent and competed in various categories, cooking stunning dishes that left an impression on both judges and fellow competitors.

LABARD Chairperson Shaista Parvaiz Malik, accompanied by Ahmad Shafiq, President of the Chefs Association of Pakistan, visited the competition arena. They both took time to appreciate the efforts and dedication of all the participants, acknowledging the challenges they overcame to participate in the event. Their visit was met with enthusiasm as they personally congratulated the LABARD participants for their outstanding performance.

The LABARD team made their entire community proud by winning Gold Medals in their respective categories. Their participation not only demonstrated their skill in the kitchen but also highlighted the strength of determination and perseverance in the face of challenges.

The segment was exclusively supported by Chughtai Lab, Cheezious, and Sultan’s Organics, whose sponsorship helped make the event even more special. Their support played a significant role in developing inclusivity and celebrating the talents of individuals with different abilities.

The success of this segment was further complemented by the participation of visually impaired individuals from the Pakistan Foundation Fighting Blindness, whose contribution to the event was highly praised by the guests and dignitaries present.

The event also garnered widespread appreciation from various international chefs and dignitaries, who applauded the Chefs Association of Pakistan for organizing such a unique and inclusive competition. Ahmad Shafiq expressed his gratitude towards LABARD for sending such talented participants and emphasized the importance of creating platforms where people with disabilities can showcase their abilities.
