College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM) proudly hosted a successful Orientation Ceremony and Welcome Party for over 500 new students at the Crystal Hall, Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore on August 29, 2024. The event marked the beginning of an exciting journey for these students as they join the COTHM family, embarking on their educational path in hospitality, culinary arts, and tourism.
The ceremony introduced students to COTHM’s rich legacy, international standards, and the wide range of opportunities available to them. They also enjoyed amazing performances of COTHM’s current students who presented skits, songs and many other lively performances.
Esteemed guests in attendance included renowned Motivational Speaker Qasim Ali Shah, Advisor to CM Adnan Afzal Chattha, Punjab Board of Technical Education Chairperson Sahibzadi Waseema Umar, NAVTTC DG Asfa Maqbool, Lahore City former mayor Col. (Rtd) Mubashar Javed, and PBTE Examination Controller Muhammad Munawar Hussain.
Throughout the event, new students were provided with comprehensive information about COTHM’s history, achievements, and its recognition as a global leader in hospitality, culinary arts, and tourism education. They were also informed about the various opportunities available to them at COTHM, including internships, industry exposure, international placements, and skill development programs. Prominent leaders from the hospitality and tourism sectors and successful passed-out students of COTHM shared their insights on the importance of these industries and offered valuable advice to the new students.
A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of COTHM’s academic excellence. The institution proudly announced that it had secured 20 out of 23 top positions in the annual examination of the Punjab Board of Technical Education. Certificates were awarded to the position holders in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
The event also celebrated COTHM’s significant impact on hospitality and tourism education in Pakistan, with over 20 branches nationwide and more than 55,000 graduates contributing to the industry. The esteemed speakers praised COTHM for its vital role in providing career opportunities to the youth of Pakistan.
The new students also took part in a painting competition with the theme of ‘Beautiful Pakistan’. Sahibzadi Waseema Umar and Nisa Sultan COO Imtiaz Nazir evaluated the paintings and selected the best three artworks. COTHM awarded the winners with cash prizes.
Ahmad Shafiq, Founder/President and CEO of COTHM Global, addressed the audience, elaborating on the college’s objectives and vision. He expressed his gratitude to all the guests for their presence and support, stating, “We are delighted to welcome our new students to the COTHM family and provide them with the foundation they need to succeed in the hospitality and tourism sectors. This event is just the beginning of a journey filled with growth, learning, and achievement.”
