PIA to Hold Talks With EU and US for Restoration of Flights

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will send delegations to Brussels in Belgium from 11 to 13 September to discuss the resumption of PIA’s flight operations in the United States and the European Union.

The management of PIA informed the Federal Minister of Aviation, Khawaja Saad Rafique, that the former team will be led by CAA Director General (DG), Khaqan Murtaza and Deputy DG CAA, Nadir Shafi Dar.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has banned PIA from operating flights to EU countries from this July.

A spokesperson for PIA said that the second team, consisting of PIA officials and the Department of Aviation will soon leave for the United States in September for meetings on safety, security and aviation operations matters.

Meanwhile, the third team will visit the UK to acquire slots at Heathrow Airport, and will return only after completing this activity.
